Permitting Services

We obtain permits and permissions for expedition activities for our clients’ ships anywhere in the world.

This work could include applying for seasonal operating and land use permissions, writing and submitting environmental impact assessment reports, or obtaining specific permits for Zodiacs, kayaks, UAVs, ROVs, submersibles and firearms.

  • We are an international, multilingual team with cruise experience from pole to pole, in every continent. Our expertise is extensive, and we’re happy to put that to work and relieve you of the burden of obtaining your permits.
  • One size doesn’t fit all in permitting, as different countries and regions have diverse and complex permitting processes. We’ve been there and are ready, even for the obscure questions.
  • If you prefer, we can handle all expedition-related interactions with government departments, agencies, harbour masters and local contacts based on our industry connections or those supplied by you.
  • The work may not be over even if the activity is complete, so if the local authority requires after-action reports, we can submit them on your behalf.
  • As we act as an extension of our clients, accessible and frequent communication is necessary. TMS will always keep you closely apprised of progress or difficulties through timely communication.
  • We supply regular reports to shoreside managers and provide comprehensive permitting packs to onboard teams before each voyage.
  • We can also advise on and apply for work permits for your expedition personnel.

TMS Expedition Database (TED)

All the permitting information for clients is held (separately) in our custom database application, TMS Expedition Database (TED).

Using TED allows us to quickly access past permit applications and expedition information, reducing the time it takes to complete future planning and applications.

We can provide various reports on the permit status by port, vessel, activity, date, or region on a regular or on-demand basis.

We can provide you with a copy of your data at any time if requested or if, for any reason, you decide not to use our services in the future.
